Protect your account and your money
Pause when someone creates urgency. A real deal never requires your password or OTP.
Keep secrets secret
Never share passwords, OTPs, recovery codes, card PINs, CVVs, bank logins, or remote-access approval codes.
Stay in Souqly chat
Keep the conversation linked to the listing. Be suspicious when someone immediately moves you to another app.
Inspect before paying
Test the item, confirm serial numbers and ownership where relevant, and compare it with the listing.
Meet safely
Choose a busy, well-lit place, meet during daylight where possible, and tell someone your plan.
Verify payment yourself
Check your own bank or wallet app. Screenshots, emails, QR codes, and “pending transfer” messages can be fake.
Limit personal data
Do not send identity documents, full addresses, financial statements, or private family information unless lawfully necessary and verified.
Common warning signs
Stop the transaction when you see these
- Requests for an OTP, PIN, password, recovery code, CVV, or screen sharing.
- A payment link or QR code you must open to “receive” money.
- Pressure to pay a deposit immediately because many buyers are waiting.
- A price far below the market with excuses preventing inspection.
- A courier, military, overseas, or emergency story used to avoid meeting.
- A request to pay a third party, gift card, crypto wallet, or unrelated account.
- A property owner or agent who refuses title, authority, licence, or in-person verification.
Property transactions
Verify before paying any reservation or deposit
Confirm the owner or licensed agent, title or registration, authority to transact, property identity, permitted use, approvals, measurements, service charges, tenancy status, and written contract. View the property and use qualified local legal and property professionals. A Souqly listing or verified profile is not proof of ownership or authority.
If something went wrong
Act quickly
- Stop contact and payment. Do not send more money to “recover” the first payment.
- Secure your accounts. Change exposed passwords, revoke sessions, contact your bank/mobile provider, and enable 2FA.
- Preserve evidence. Save the listing URL, chat, payment reference, phone number, and timestamps.
- Report it. Use Souqly’s Report action and contact the appropriate bank, platform, police, cybercrime, or consumer authority.
